In Memoriam of Keith Moran: Remembering the Founder and President of Moran Economic Development

With profound sadness, Moran Economic Development announces the passing of Keith Moran, the esteemed founder and President of the firm. Keith John Moran, age 49, passed away on July 22, 2023. Keith had been battling health issues for the past several years, during which time he gradually stepped back from his leadership role at Moran Economic Development. Despite the hopes for his recovery and return to the company, his illness advanced to a point where it was not possible. 

For Keith, Moran Economic Development was more than just a company; it was his life's work. Since its inception nearly 15 years ago, Keith poured his heart and soul into building a thriving organization that significantly impacted the local Edwardsville – Glen Carbon community and beyond. His passion and love for his work were evident to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

"I’ve had the honor of working alongside Keith since the early days of the company and can say with sincerity that he loved the work he did and relationships he developed, both professionally and personally, throughout his career," said Jared Kanallakan, Vice President of Moran Economic Development. "Working alongside my colleagues Jake Zambaldi, Director of Development Programs; Emily Calderon, Director of Planning; and Holly Head, Associate, we look forward to honoring Keith’s legacy by leading Moran Economic Development into the future, continuing to build upon what he started nearly 15 years ago."

The passing of Keith is a deeply felt loss for the team at Moran Economic Development, his colleagues, and the community. His vision, leadership, dedication, and friendship have been instrumental in shaping the firm’s success and its positive contributions to the region’s economic development. 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ink House in Edwardsville, Ill. The service is open to the public. A memorial service for friends and family will be held on Thursday, August 3, at 11:30 a.m. at the Moose Lodge in Edwardsville, Ill. As we mourn the loss of Keith Moran, let us also remember the tremendous impact he had on our lives and the legacy he leaves behind.
