Cahokia Pontiac Drive TIF District Establishment

Jerseyville & Regional Partners Apply for Jersey-Greene Intermodal Enterprise Zone

"We struggle to educate our kids and when they receive an education there is no opportunity to keep them here," said Robert Higgins. "The problem is we do not have enough well-paying jobs in the community. We need to create something to keep those kids here." Russell said he has been in contact with developers of a new railroad facility which would include warehouses and other storage space. He hopes to attract other small manufacturing jobs. "It is all part of a plan as Corridor 67 moves north. We are on the five-year plan but the Jerseyville portion may be sooner," said Russell.
